I've really felt the creative juices flowing, now that I found out I was having a girl. So I dove right in and made my first girly thing- a tutu. I think it turned out really cute, and it was super easy. I just cut strips of tulle about 12 inches long and then tied them around a small elastic. I think I need to sew through the knots, just to make sure they stay put. I haven't felt like sewing for the longest time, but now my mind is brimming with all the cute and wonderful things I want to make for her. Next up: a nursing cover, stroller bag, blankets and maybe some dresses.

Can you dig it?
Owen and I have been pretty sick the past few days and I have felt like a total failure as a mom during that time. I let Owen watch more TV than I ever have before. Thank goodness for the Backyardigans. I just couldn't find the energy to do anything constructive.
I found this blog, No Time for Flash Cards, that gives you ideas for crafts to do with your child, so today, since we're both feeling a lot better, I thought we'd try one out.
I picked this one for beginners: basically they go digging for treasures in oatmeal, but I didn't have oatmeal, so I used Rice Krispies. This is what happened.
He seemed to really like finding things at first.
Then he just got hungry and started eating all the cereal. Maybe that is why they used oatmeal.
Send in the reinforcements for clean-up duty. Isn't this why we have a dog?
